The chard is grown and harvested in contrada Fontana Vecchia, a district of a pre-Apromontan village. Harvesting is done by hand. Chard can be grown in many different ways: broad-leafed or even ribbed. It has a sweet taste, which is why it is well appreciated by snails. It is harvested around November/December with leaves, taking care to remove the outer one so that it can regenerate.
