When the American law forbade to bring cold cuts from overseas, the peasants fleeing from hunger and looking for survival and fortune thought to hide sausages and soppressate inside the caciocavallo, at the time it was easy to get away with it. Thus was born the caciocavallo emigrant that remains one of the great delicacies of southern Italy, a unique goodness in which the delicacy of Caciocavallo and the aroma of a specialty such as soppressata are combined.
